[D12, EA: The hallway] 1st Annual Tabi Skating Competition

As the dojo is some distance from the nearest settlement, students are boarded on site. Two large rooms have been set up as barracks - one for men, the other for women - where all but the dojo's staff and the most prestigious of visitors are housed.

"Banzai Akodo Yo-san!" Airi cheered, then giggled a little. She was still a bit hot faced from her own performance. She was happy people have made time to come, despite all that had happened.

He bowed again to the Otomo and the cheering Scorpion.

"It was...an honor to compete. Thank you for holding this competition." he said.

"Of course!" Then she went to the judges table to retrieve something, and stayed for a moment writing something in careful calligraphy. When she was finished she returned.

"This is for Akodo Yo-san, on behalf of the event team", she said and opened the small scroll she was carrying.

"Since we'll be grown ups soon, though, i thought we could hang it here in the hallway. Leaving it behind us so if they hold another event for young students, they might make it a tradition, wouldn't that be something?" She had a huge grin.

"We might as well state the other titles and other competitors that placed if that's the case, Bayushi-san." Akihime taps her chin. She did come up all those other titles after all.

Not Bayushi-tan?

Airi gave no indication of her disappointment.

"Mmh!" She nodded. "I have lots of ink left."

"Hmm... such a thing in Otomo Akihime-sama's calligraphy would be quite the prize indeed. Though it may make those coming after us feel inadequate, having to live up to such expectations of writing. Perhaps it would push future students to better themselves though; After all, we all came out better for all we've been pushed to do, no?"

Yo considered that. He actually really did like the title, and felt there was a decent chance that if the scroll was left behind, some servant was likely to toss it out. But childhood was coming to an end, and soon there would be no Akodo Yo. It seemed...fitting either way.

"It would indeed be something if they made it a tradition, Bayushi-san. I believe that's an excellent plan." he allowed.

"Well, we should all be keeping letters to here, for our sensei, neh? I'm sure we'll hear about it eventually", she said with a wink. "I'll go put this up properly and make the other certificates."

She bowed and withdrew to get to work.

The Tamori had a smile the whole time while Akihime declared the winners and all the other categories. He was happy to hear she had liked his attempts somewhat - but he had never learned to be particularly competitive, so he was even happier to hear each of the others' names. From what little exchanges he had had with her and what he heard from others, she seemed like a... demanding person might be one way to put it. Of course, that was something to be expected of an Imperial, he supposed, and an Otomo at that.

But seeing her oversee this event, and especially seeing her declare titles to pretty much all who participated?

His smile softened as he stole a quick look at the Otomo from where he was standing.

Behind what seemed to be an arrogant exterior was someone who had made an effort to make everyone feel remembered and important in some way in this memory of their time here - which was at the same time a reminder of their last days as children, even among these rough days, and of their passage into adulthood.

He bowed at Yo, congratulating him, and nodded happily at Airi. The idea of keeping the scroll was... Funny in a way, but one he wholeheartedly supported. Especially after the hard times the Dojo was seeing, an event to raise the spirits of its next students was definitely something to look forward to!
